Boney Wins $1,000 Feature At Butler Motor Speedway

Butler Motor Speedway saw some of the best racing of the year Sunday night. The $1000 to win modified special was ran Sunday night after being postponed due to rain the week before. There was a star studded field of modifieds all competing for the top prize of $1000. The front row consisted of Matt Johnson on the pole and Tim Setzer to his outside. The crowd was on their feet cheering on their favorite drivers as the field took the green. Johnson and Setzer would battle side by side challenging for the top spot. Johnson would take the early lead with Setzer glued to his back bumper. Justin Boney and Eddie Bray would make it a four way battle for the lead. The race had a 7 lap green flag run and Johnson flexed his muscle early he put a half a straight lead over the field. Caution would fly bunching the field back up. Johnson would lead the way back to the green with pressure from Setzer Boney and Bray. Caution would bunch the field up again after the track was cleared Johnson would lead the charge into turn one. Boney had found a groove up high going into turns one and two that worked for him. Boney would pass Setzer and Johnson taking the lead coming out of turn number two. Boney would feel pressure from Johnson until Setzer and Johnson made contact in turns three and four. Johnson would spin and Setzer would have to service a flat right front tire. When the field came back to green Bray would pressure Boney for the lead, while he was challenged by Mitch Keeter and Johnny Fennewald. Boney would go take the win and the $1000 top prize.
The factory stock feature had Drew Hendren and Jimmy Ray on the fron row as the green flag flew. Hendren would battle door to door with Ray for the lead for 3 laps. Hendren took the lead on the high side coming out of turn number two. Mark Selsor Scott Friend and Dan Luther were all locked into a tight battle for position right behind Hendren and Ray. Caution would fly bringing the field to a single file restart. Selsor Made a hard charge on the top side while Hendren committed to the bottom going into turn one. Selsor was able to use the momentum to his advantage and take the lead. Michael Robinson Luther, Friend and Hendren battled hard for position allowing Selsor to slip further away taking the feature win.
Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers was the next feature out. Tim Wade and Pat Trusler would lead the field to the green. Dale Reese Jeff Coleman Lewis Jackson and John Wilhite swapped positions most of the race battling high & low. Al Broers would come from the rear of the Field to take the Feature win.
Street Stocks were the next feature to try and tame the 3/8 mile high banked beast. Eddie Fox and Jeff Douty ran door to door battling for the lead. Sam Shadden Jesse Murray Charley Jones and Robert Brown sliced and diced for position behind Fox and Douty. The red flag came out as Jones had an engine let go causing a massive fireball to erupt from under his race car. Jones was able to get the car stopped and took no time at all to exit the car as the fire department made sure the flames were extinguished. Fox had just edged Douty out for the lead before the caution. Fox would go on to take the feature win.
Late Models were next on the Agenda Jack Simmons and Billy Humble would lead the charge into turns one and two as the green flew. Humble and Simmons would run door to door for 5 laps with Humble up top and Simmons on the bottom groove. Eric Anderson would challenge both Humble and Simmons for the lead. Simmons was hungry for a feature win and was able to fend off the advances of Humble and Anderson. Robby Love Dustin Biesely Jeff John and Joe Bartlett would battle behind the top three for there perspective spots putting on a great race for the fans. Anderson would hold the second spot until on the last lap he was emitting showers of sparks out of the left rear giving Humble the advantage to just narrowly take over second place at checkered flag.
